Tropical Holiday Punch

This punch plays off the tropical inspiration of a Dark & Stormy cocktail, and uses juices for sweetness and spices for holiday flavor.
1 750 ml. bottle Mount Gay rum, or similar
3 cups pineapple juice
2 cinammon sticks
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon whole allspice
2 cups pomegranate juice
1 1/2 liters diet ginger ale
Citrus slices to garnish
Directions: In a medium sauce pan, combine the pineapple juice, cinnamon, cloves and allspice. Cover. Bring to a boil, then immediately lower the heat and steep for 15 minutes. Allow to cool, then strain. In a punch bowl or large pitcher, mix the rum, the infused pineapple juice, and the pomegranate juice. To preserve its fizz, add the ginger ale shortly before serving. Garnish with citrus slices and serve over ice cubes.
